Political comments, and insights from 50 years of research and media analysis. I've been watching and analyzing US national politics since the "modern" Iowa Caucuses were created in Ames, Iowa, just a few blocks from where I lived.

Video Clip Roast and Ride, Boone, Iowa
Iowa Senator Joni Ernst's Roast and Ride, pork and motorcycle event in Boone, Iowa was a big success according to my analysis and media folks with whom I spoke at the Expo site.
It received great media attention from US and international media (David Rennie of the Economist covered it)
Republican voters and likely caucus attendees were electrified and mobilized.
There were roughly 1500 attendees.

Scott Walker was a big hit and the only candidate who departed from his walk to the "holding area", moved right in on the crowd, walked the fence line for a LONG time, allowed people to take selfies, shook hands, and smiled the whole time.
I've also added a brief clip of Florida Senator Marco Rubio's event in Ames, IA a few hours earlier. It was well attended and Rubio was humorous, self deprecating, and made a good case that he has the experience from his leadership in Florida to run for president.
